Novice Exhibitors

It may be your first poultry show or you may have shown poultry as a Junior and are just getting back in to it.  Either way, to qualify for Novice Awards at the Big Bird Classic you must have never earned any APA or ABA exhibitor points (to the best of your knowledge).  Trophy plaques will be awarded to the high placing Novice chicken in both large fowl and bantam, both shows.  The Reserve Novices will also receive awards.  Novice exhibitors use the Open Entry Form.

Below is a link to some excellent information for first time exhibitors:

The key points to remember are 1) Be sure you are bringing a healthy, clean, adult bird that is a of a recognized breed; 2)  Do let them spend some time in a cage so that they are not too frightened at the show; 3) If your flock is not NPIP certified you should have your birds tested well before hand.  The Arkansas certificate is good for 90 days.  We will try to have a tester at the show for those of you who can not get this done at home;  4)  Your birds need a numbered leg band;  5) You must enter the show in advance and by the deadline.  No entries will be taken at the show; 6) Birds must be cooped in before the show starts and stay cooped until they are released after the awards are given out.

Entry fee is $6 per bird (open and novice) and covers both shows.  Youth entry fee is $3 and covers both shows.  All birds show together, there will not be a separate Junior or Novice show but we will have Junior and Novice awards for the high placing birds in those divisions.

If you have ANY questions on entering your birds or how the show is run, feel free to email me,  Ann Charles, contact@SkyBlueEgg.com,
or ask your questions on the Little Rock Meet-Up forum thread:
